We still have places on many of the fantastic courses we are providing to support Numeracy in 2016 and 2017 and every school Numeracy Coordinator has a list of these events to share with you.
Fractions That Add To 1: Monday 19 September 2016, Star Ballroom. 3:45pm – 5:15pm.
This session aims to provide practical ideas using symmetric patterns and triangles within hexagons to support the development for introducing fractions that add to 1. It aims to support teachers to introduce fractions less than one in a practical way, reinforcing knowledge of shapes. The session is aimed at teachers of First and Second Level and places can be booked here: Fractions That Add To 1.
All About Number (Part 1 and Part 2): Wednesday 26 October, Northern Lights, 3:45pm – 5:15pm and Wednesday 9 November, Star Ballroom, 3:45pm – 5:15pm
This session will draw upon the most recent results of the Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (2015) to highlight national areas of concern in pupil attainment. The first session will focus upon Estimation and Rounding, Place Value and some aspects of Number and Number Processes, while aiming to provide practical inputs that could be used with classes. The second session will focus upon Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division and will again aim to provide practical inputs that could be used with classes. Places can be booked here: Wednesday 26 October and Wednesday 9 November.
Mental Maths – Amy Sinclair: A choice of either Wednesday 2 November 2016 or Thursday 3 November 2016, Frederick Street. 9:00am – 3:00pm.
This all-day course will share a range of progressive and practical activities for teaching mental maths and fluency from Early to Second Level and allow attendees to access resources to support the development of mental maths strategies in their classes. Please note that this session is during school time and places must be agreed with school Senior Management Teams prior to booking places. The course is a one day course and attendance is only needed at one of the two dates. Places can be booked here: Wednesday 2 November or Thursday 3 November.
