Numeracy CPD Opportunities – Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy

We have planned a series of CPD opportunities using the national data from the most recent SSLN results (2015).  We have taken the lowest attaining organisers and have created CPD events to explore the teaching and concepts for each area.  The events are running throughout the year and can be booked at the links below:

All about Number (Part 1) – Wednesday 26 October 2016
This session will draw upon the most recent results of the Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (2015) to highlight national areas of concern in pupil attainment.  This CPD will focus upon Estimation and Rounding, Place Value and some aspects of Number and Number Processes. The CPD will provide practical inputs that could be used with classes.

All about Number (Part 2) – Wednesday 9 November 2016
This session will draw upon the most recent results of the Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (2015) to highlight national areas of concern in pupil attainment.  This CPD will focus upon Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. This CPD will provide practical inputs that could be used with classes.

Fantastic Fractions, Decimals and Percentages – Wednesday 11 February 2017
This session will draw upon the most recent results of the Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (2015) to highlight national areas of concern in pupil attainment.  This CPD will focus upon the progression and milestones for teaching fractions, decimal fractions and percentages and demonstrate approaches  to be used in class.

Magical Measuring – Wednesday 26 April 2017 
This CPD will focus upon the practical approaches to teaching aspects of measure and will highlight practice in schools across Aberdeen where work has taken place due to the SSLN results.
