On 6 December 1976 Scottish Youth Theatre was born.

On 6 December 2016 we chose our 40th birthday to announce another very important landmark… registration is now open  for the first ever Scottish Youth Theatre National Ensemble.

We are offering young people aged 16 – 25 who live work, study or have family who live in Scotland, the opportunity to challenge and develop their theatrical skills by collaborating with some of the most influential theatre-makers working in Scotland today. We aim to develop participants as theatre-makers and in addition to performance, members will explore writing, directing  and production. The Ensemble will evolve with total input from the members . Development weekends will occur throughout the year and throughout Scotland and there will be a performance in Summer 2017. Members can also attain a higher education qualification.

We want the National Ensemble to be something young artists aspire to, an additional level of stretch for those who are keen to broaden their artistic, social and geographic horizons and connect with like minded people. They don’t have to be intent on entering the industry, as confident creative individuals we know they will carry their Ensemble experience with them in whatever direction they choose to travel.

Only 20 places are available and entry is based purely on ability and commitment.

If you know someone who may be interested or would like to assist by spreading the word then attached is a poster or the webpage for digital promotion is here If you’re on social media don’t forget t tag us!

We are also keen to use the Ensemble as an opportunity to collaborate with partners so do get in touch if you think there is something we can work together on!

Thank you to those who made it along to our celebration yesterday – it was such a special event and we were delighted to share it with you.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch

Kind regards
