Bookbug Picture Book Prize

507 children from 13 schools participated in the Prize either voting in libraries or via Scottish Book Trust. The winner announced in January was “Shark in the park on a windy day” by Nick Sharratt which was the title which received most votes in Aberdeen City Libraries.

Syrian Refugees

A pop-up classroom area is being created in Central Library Mezzanine twice a week from 16th January for 10 weeks to accommodate 10 learners and a tutor for ESOL classes. Feedback from the tutor expresses thanks for creating an “effective learning space in the library, for my Syrian classes”. Library staff will be engaging with the learners to ensure ongoing support upon completion of the classes.

Aberdeen Booked! Festival

Edinburgh International Book Festival’s Booked! Programme is returning to Aberdeen with an exciting two-day celebration taking place at ACT, Aberdeen.

FREE events and activities will be on offer to primary and secondary schools with a range of authors, illustrators and storytellers. Please note the dates for your diaries: Thursday 24 August and Friday 25 August 2017.
