Children & Young People Improvement Collaborative Celebration Event

Aberdeen’s Integrated Children’s Services team gathered last week to celebrate and share their stories of improvement.

Our Quality Improvement Learning Programme has encouraged practitioners from across services to work closely with children, young people and families to understand what matters to them and work together to make improvements.  We have developed our confidence in using the improvement approach – The Model for Improvement – and are building a team of improvement champions across the city.

During 2016, a group of thirteen participants worked on a range of improvement projects including:

  • developing a Nurture approach in school,
  • working with young people to support their health and wellbeing
  • creating inclusive environments for children with additional support needs
  • increasing access to outdoor free play experiences for children in after school clubs,
  • reducing delay in providing family support services
  • exploring how to support a girl’s group in the city
  • improving workforce development opportunities for early learning and childcare practitioners
  • supporting parents through expansion of Aberdeen’s Peep programme

Our next programme begins later this month with 20 practitioners already busy considering the focus of their improvement efforts.
