Cooking up a Strom: Hazlehead Academy’s FutureChef Finalist

Posted on Posted in Uncategorised

Congratulations to Amy Campbell from Hazelhead Academy, who came second at the National Final of Springboards FutureChef 2017 competition. Over nine thousand students from across the United Kingdom took part. Amy’s talent and dedication saw her reach the National Finals representing the North of Scotland, where she was one of twelve regional finalists. To achieve second place in the finals is an incredible accomplishment and reflective of all her hard work. Head chefs John Burns of Malmaison in Aberdeen and latterly, Paul Whitecross of Trump International, mentored Amy as she progressed through the competition.

The competition is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their skills, creativity and confidence. Moreover, the North of Scotland is beginning to establish a tradition of reaching the finals having been placed second or third in three out of the past four years. Encouragement from teachers, family and mentorship from experts in the local hospitality industry is proving to be a winning formula for the North East. It is wonderful to see everyone come together to support our young people to help them realise their talent.

Springboard will be launching the FutureChef 2018 competition prior to the summer holidays as the search begins for next year’s future chef finalist. More details can be found here on their website: https://futurechef.uk.net
