Today is the last Education and Children’s Services Committee with me as your Director and I wanted to update you on my own next steps.
I shall be taking up the post of Chief Inspector/Chief Executive of Education Scotland. I am thrilled and excited to be taking on this new role and to lead and support Scotland’s children through the education sector.
The role gives me the opportunity to work across Scotland in partnership with Local Authorities, Regional Collaborative and National Agencies – to improve the outcomes for Scotland’s children and young people. The Northern Alliance will continue to grow and go from strength to strength with my colleagues.
As you know working in collaboration and partnership is central to me and I look forward to working with schools, teachers, practioners, wider professionals and Headteachers to support improvement. I have learned so much from you all that I shall take with me to the new role and will hold Aberdeen and it’s amazing team in my thoughts as I move into the post in December.
I have always been so proud to work with and represent you all, and the dedication you have for the citizens of Aberdeen – both big and small! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, commitment and care during the past five years and to wish you every success for your future. Please do keep in touch and I know you will continue the great work for our children, young people and families.
