In partnership with Penguin Random House, the National Literacy Trust has launched an exciting competition aimed at children aged 7-12.
Based on the latest book by Jeff Kinney in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, The Meltdown, children are asked to write a 500-word diary entry about the most exciting snow day they have ever had or could possibly imagine.
The competition is launched alongside analysis from the National Literacy Trust that children’s enthusiasm for diary writing is at an all-time high; in 2018, 3 in 5 (57.6%) children aged 8-11 say they write a diary, compared to just 1 in 3 (35.4%) in 2010; an increase of 64%.
Entries must be submitted by Thursday 31 January 2019. Further information on the competition including prizes and how to access free teaching resources is available from the National Literacy Trust.
