First Minister’s Reading Challenge

The First Minister’s Reading Challenge was re-launched at the beginning of September and is now open to all children and young people aged 5-18.

The First Minister’s Reading Challenge aims to help children and young people develop a love of reading. The Challenge supports schools, libraries and communities across Scotland to develop reading cultures and give every child and young person in Scotland the opportunity to experience the joy of reading for pleasure.

The First Minister’s Reading Challenge website has a list of book recommendations however these are just a starting point and children can read any books they like.

Why not arrange a class visit to your local library and check out the range of titles and formats available? Talking books, ebooks, and eaudiobooks can all be read as part of the Challenge. Our library staff will be happy to help with author and title suggestions.
