Collaborate//Educate is a training programme for teachers and creative practitioners who want to develop their practice in working together and in thinking about creative approaches to the curriculum at primary school level.

This year Creative Learning offered 6 places for artists and 6 places for probationary primary school teaching staff working in Aberdeen City to train alongside each other and share practice. Sessions were delivered from February to May facilitated by Pauline Black who brought her experience of both education and arts contexts. Participants explored the creativity agenda in Scottish education, investigated ways of working collaboratively across the two professions, and trailed a collaborative creative learning idea live in the classroom.

This project set out to:

  • Improve participants understanding and application of the creativity agenda to their work in schools.
  • Improve teachers’ confidence in working creatively and collaboratively with artists.
