Come along to this practical session for teachers looking to refresh or extend existing skills or develop new ones, in the context of their arts teaching practice. Looking at the traditional Tiffany process of creating a 2D glass artwork, with a contemporary twist, including glass cutting, foiling and soldering, and working with recycled or waste glass. Session will also cover aspects such as how to risk assess for glass work in school and what equipment might be required. Participants will have a finished small piece to take away at the end of the session.
Refresh, extend or develop practical Expressive Arts skills, explore new techniques and materials, or new ways of using familiar materials and take some creative inspiration back to the classroom! There will also be practical advice on the possibilities of working with the medium in school settings. Linked sessions are planned to be offered for groups of pupils later in the academic year.
The session will be structured to be responsive to the needs and interests of those teachers who attend and to develop any teacher’s personal practice; for direct cross over into the classroom, the session will most useful for those working with Secondary level students.
