Expressive Arts

Aberdeen City Council’s Creative Learning Team work to develop and support opportunities for schools to undertake bespoke Expressive Arts programmes and workshops, across the Expressive Arts subject areas. Programmes & workshops support Expressive Arts skills development and complement existing curricular activity.

Creative Learning also develop targeted Expressive Arts curriculum enhancement activity in partnership with schools, often bringing external agencies and artists to work within school contexts. Projects can also be tailored to target – for instance – attainment in an aspect of a particular Expressive Arts subject area; knowledge of creative pathways; specialist or niche art form skills development (external experts in the classroom).

The Expressive Arts focused work of Creative Learning is particularly relevant to supporting HGiOS 1.2 Leadership of Learning; 2.1 Curriculum; 2.2 Learning & Teaching; 2.4 Personalised Support; 2.7 Partnerships; 3.2 Raising attainment and achievement; 3.3 Increasing creativity and employability.
