As 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, Aberdeen City Council is proud to present a conference and stimulating discussion for pupils featuring visiting guest speakers from our twin cities in France and Germany.
There are 2 educational sessions for schools on the afternoons of Thursday 27th March and Friday 28th March.
The Thursday afternoon session is a conference for schools where international pupils from 3 of our twin cities will be present. There will be speakers from France, Regensburg and Aberdeen. At this event pupils will hear about the impacts of World War One on Aberdeen and its Twin Cities.
Topics being discussed include:
• the role of women
• social democracy
• war on the eastern front
• impacts of WWI on French society and politics
The Friday afternoon session is a discussion amongst the local and visiting international pupils, led by facilitators, to discuss the impacts of WWI, how they shaped Europe and Europe in the future.
