Northfield Academy’s partnership with construction giant Balfour Beatty continues to raise the aspirations and ambitions of its young people.
Recognising the positive impact of the partnership Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mike Russell, visited Northfield Academy on 3 March to meet some of those involved in their partnership first hand.
Working together on short and long term projects the partnership is enriching the experiences, increasing the skills and ultimately the employability of the young people. The Balfour Beatty Scholarship saw pupils apply for a Summer internship with the company where they worked with employees ranging from admin to the Managing Director.
Commenting on the work of the partnership Steve Petrie, Business Development Manager for Balfour Beattie said that it was “One of the most rewarding and exiting initiatives that I have ever been involved in.”
