I just wanted to highlight some information from the UKLA (United Kingdom Literacy Association) Book Awards. The awards are relative newcomers to the world of children’s books, however they are the only book awards judged by teachers.
UKLA are currently looking to recruit judges to develop the 2016 shortlist.
Teachers are recruited to read for a specific age group and will each receive free copies of all of the 20 longlisted titles. The original longlists are selected by a UKLA panel who read all 300+ submissions from publishers. The teacher judges (usually numbering around 60 in total) come together for one day to debate and decide the shortlist of 6 titles in their categories.
All the best,
