Children’s Laureate visit – Thursday 15th September

Here is an exciting opportunity to further engage our pupils with reading. The Children’s Laureate, Chris Riddell, will be visiting the city in September.  SBT have supplied details of how to get involved below, please note the deadline for applications is 27th May.

We are thrilled to bring the Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell to East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, Stirling, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for week of extra-special schools events, this September.

Chris is currently tasked with promoting children’s literature and inspiring children to read. His distinctive illustrations have won him critical acclaim and he has collaborated with a wide range of authors, including Neil Gaiman. He is also an award-winning author in his own right, winning the Costa Children’s Book Award in 2013 for Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse.

Chris’s event will focus on the importance of illustration, creativity and imagination. He will introduce his laureateship, and share pictures from his laureate log, before taking questions from the audience. He promises to illustrate his answers and gift the illustration to each questioner – to keep!

This event is free, thanks to Aberdeen City Council’s Cultural Team and Aberdeen City Libraries and takes place at the Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen.
