Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy 2016 – Literacy

Scotland’s Chief Statistician today published numeracy results from the 2016 Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (SSLN).  The SSLN was an annual survey which monitored national performance in literacy and numeracy in alternate years at P4, P7 and S2.  This is the third and final set of literacy results from the SSLN.  The full report is available using the following link:

The  key source of literacy and performance attainment data going forward will be Achievement of Curriculum for Excellence Levels, at P1, P4, P7 and S3, based on teacher professional judgement. The first set of data for 2015/16 was published in December 2016. This information is available here.
