Book Week Scotland; Author Live with Phil Earle and the Bookbug Picture Book Prize

As we all know, Monday 27th November – Sunday 3rd December is Book Week Scotland.  I’m sure you have lots of exciting things planned for the gifting of your P2 and P3 Bookbags so please share your events with us.

Don’t forget to encourage your P1 children to vote for the Bookbug Picture Book prize, see details below:

With the deadline fast approaching on 8 December 2017, we really want to get as many children voting for their favourite book as possible! Registrations are still open, and we would really appreciate if you could register your school to take part, helping your pupils to get the most out of the books in the P1 bag and empowering them to play their part in deciding the overall winner of this national award. Any child who has read or listened to all three shortlisted picture books is entitled to vote in the prize. Use the following link to register: www.scottishbooktrust.com/bpbp

In additon, on Tuesday 28 November at 11am, Scottish Book Trust and BBC Scotland Learning will be welcoming bestselling author Phil Earle to Authors Live for an exciting event all about his Storey Street books! Phil will be sharing his best creative writing tips, making this a great event to get children inspired to create their own stories this Book Week Scotland. Pupils who tune in will also have the opportunity to submit their questions for Phil to answer live.

This free digital event is best suited to P4-S1 classes. Teachers can sign up their classes to watch here, and they will be automatically entered into a giveaway to win a class set of Phil’s newest book, Scaredy Cat, Scaredy Cat: http://www.scottishbooktrust.com/learning/teachers-librarians/authors-live/authors-live-events/phil-earle

These are just some of the activities planned and I am sure we will have lots of fun throughout the city during Book Week Scotland. Happy reading!
