On 4th May 2018, Danestone School launched its Confucius Classroom, a new Mandarin learning centre in Aberdeen.
Pupil and staff from primary and secondary schools from across Aberdeen City attended and contributed to the opening ceremony. Danestone School pupils and staff welcomed attendees including parents, representatives from the Confucius Institute for Scotland’s School, The University of Aberdeen and Aberdeen City councillors and education officers.
Mandarin learning experiences were shared by pupils from Oldmachar Academy, former Danestone pupils returned to showcase Highland Dancing and pupils from Forehill Primary performed Chinese songs and dance. A group of CISS ambassadors who visited to Beijing last summer gave us a presentation about their unique experience in China. The performance mixed Chinese culture and Scottish culture and was enjoyed by all.
This event truly showcased pupils’ enthusiasm for learning Mandarin and the skills they have developed. The outstanding Mandarin talents of Aberdeen City pupils left a deep impression for all who attended.
