Listening Books – Free memberships available for audiobook library service

Children who have difficulty reading printed books can find themselves missing out on all the enjoyment, comfort and relaxation a great story can bring.  If your child finds it difficult to read in the usual way, audiobooks can be a vital resource in making reading easy and accessible.  Listening Books is a national charity that provides a postal and online audiobook library service to children and adults who struggle to read or hold printed books due to an illness, disability, mental health or learning difficulty. The charity is currently offering a number of funded FREE memberships to people living in Aberdeen who would find the annual membership fees a barrier to joining the service (fees are usually £20 – £45 per year).

There are 1000s of titles to listen to including educational audiobooks to help with exam revision and topic work, and much-loved authors such as JK Rowling and Roald Dahl.  Titles are available to download and stream through the website or app, or as MP3 CDs sent through the post (no postage costs or late fees), and our friendly library team are on hand to help by phone or email.

How to apply: visit our website www.listening-books.org.uk, or contact Jo Cord on 020 7407 9417 or jcord@listening-books.org.uk

“My daughter is really enjoying the service. It really has made the biggest difference. She is now able to join in at school when they talk about books that are at her level. Many thanks for such an amazing service!” Mother of member
